Titans Claim Route 224 Clash

FINDLAY – Since their season opening 2-1 loss at Anthony Wayne the Lady Titans of Ottawa Glandorf have pitched four straight shutouts.

Junior keeper Karsyn Erford turned away just one early shot on Thursday night as she and her squad picked up a 3-0 victory on the road at rival Liberty Benton.

“I thought we took a step forward tonight in our progression as a team this season” said Titan head coach Michelle Maag. “Liberty Benton is always a tough matchup and I thought the girls responded well to the challenge.”

Titan leading scorer Makenna Siefker kicked things off for the visiting blue and gold in the goal department as she raced a shot past Eagles keeper Rylie Grant off of a lead pass from Liv Grothause.

Leading 1-0 the Titans upped their run to 3-0 on goals from their junior class. Liv Grothause found the back of the net for her second goal in as many games off of a high cross pass from Delaney Duling. Grothause’s classmate Savannah Recker rocketed a ball from 25 yards away following a corner kick attempt for her first goal of the season.

“We are continuing to move players around during games and I like the flexibility that gives us” said Maag. “It was another night with scoring distribution so that’s exciting to see.”

Liberty Benton (3-2) sees their two game winning streak come to an end with the loss and will return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Cory-Rawson.

Ottawa Glandorf (4-1) jumps back into WBL play on Tuesday evening as they welcome Wapak to the Titan Soccer Complex.

“I thought we could have done a better job holding shape but our defensive pressure today across the lines improved. We’ve got things to work on but a lot to build off of and become a more well rounded team” finished Maag.
