OTTAWA – Ottawa Glandorf continued their winning ways at home on Tuesday evening by defeating Lima Central Catholic 3-0 in a non-league matchup.
Though visiting LCC snagged the opening point of the match the Titans were able to quickly tie the set at 1-1 and race out to a 6-1 lead on the scoreboard.
Following an LCC marker on a service error by the hosts to cut the lead to 6-2 the Titans struck again for another long rally to push to 13-2 before another T-Bird point. OG’s final rally of the opening set iced a 1-0 advantage behind a five point run to take a 25-6 game one.
While the Titans again opened with a strong 3-0 advantage the T-Birds rallied to tie the set and take a 6-4 lead before finding the match at 9-7 in their favor.
Once Ottawa Glandorf senior defensive specialist Amara Shepherd took over the service game for the hosts the score began to slant in the favor of the blue and gold to a 9-9 tie and an eventual 24-9 lead thanks to a 17-point service streak. OG upped their set advantage to 2-0 moments later by finishing off a 25-11 game with a ball in the net by LCC.
Third year Titan head coach Amber Miller’s troops blitzed their way to a 7-0 lead in the third and final set with a combination of their tall front line and active back row before surrendering just a pair of points through the first 14 to give OG a 12-2 advantage.
LCC mounted a pair of runs in the middle and late parts of the last set to cut the score to 20-12 but got no closer as the Titans closed out the match with a 25-12 three set victory.
Lima Central Catholic (1-4) will be back in action on Saturday morning starting at 9:00 A.M. as they travel south to Sidney to take part in the Sidney Lehman Invitational.
Ottawa Glandorf improves to 5-1 on the season and will host a pair of contests over a three day span beginning on Thursday with WBL rival Elida and ending with a non-league tilt Saturday afternoon with visiting Marion Local.
