OTTAWA – Playing for the first time this season on turf the OG Titans turned up the speed of their game Monday night as they dispatched visiting Elida 9-0 to remain unbeaten in the WBL.
“Offensively I was happy with the way we took what the defense gave us. The pockets of space changed location throughout the game, and I thought the girls did a good job identifying the right area to play the ball. We shared the ball, moved it quickly, and it resulted in five different scorers on the night” said Titan head coach Michelle Maag.
Just over three minutes into the opening half the Titans displayed their ability to score quickly when junior Makenna Siefker battered a redirected shot just in front of the net off of Elida keeper Leah Ramirez and into the onion basket for a 1-0 advantage at 36:55.
Racing through would be defenders just over a minute after the opening salvo by Siefker, Mackenzie Recker sent the Titans ahead 2-0 with 35:49 by floating a shot from the right side down to the left corner for her team leading eighth goal of the year.
Accounting for three goals and two assists on the evening, Bri Douglass kicked off her evening adding to the hosts lead with 32:33 as she fed teammate Myka Aldrich in front of the goal for a 3-0 Titan lead.
Sophomore Liv Grothause joined the blue and gold scoring parade at 28:35 when she snared a save by Ramirez and punched it into the net for her first career varsity goal.
OG’s final two scores of the first half came with 15:44 and 11:53 remaining respectively before the break from Douglass and and Aldrich who sent a roller and a high arcing shot through for a 6-0 edge on the scoreboard.
Similarly to how they opened the first half the Titans wasted no time in the final 40 minutes getting on the scoreboard thanks to Mackenzie Recker’s second goal of the night and ninth of the season.
Two Bri Douglass goals at 24:36 and 23:02 remaining gave Ottawa Glandorf the final markers of their 9-0 victory. Douglass’ second goal saw the senior snag a pass from a teammate at midfield and split defenders before dribbling around the Elida keeper for her 46th career score and eighth of the season.
“Tonight’s game was an excellent full team effort. Our defensive work rate from all 11 on the field set the tone for the game. We did a good job of attacking Elida’s talented attack” said Maag.
Elida (6-2-1) falls for the first time in Western Buckeye League play and will next be in action looking to improve on their 1-1-1 mark on Thursday night when they host rival Bath.
OG, ranked third in the second edition of the OSSCA polls moves to 7-0 on the season while improving their conference mark to 3-0. The Titans will seek to continue their 15 game WBL win streak on Thursday evening when they travel to Roughrider Field to face unblemished St. Marys.

“This game is a step forward for us as we prep for another big WBL game against St. Marys later this week” finished Maag on her thoughts of tonight’s victory.
