Rismiller career high leads Cavs past T-Birds

COLDWATER – Sophomore Riley Rismiller became just the seventh player in Coldwater history to score 30 points in a game as she helped lead the Cavaliers to a 55-35 victory over visiting LCC.

Lima Central Catholic jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first minute and a half of the game on baskets by Erin and Mary Kelly Mulcahy, but found themselves held scoreless from 6:42 in the first to :55.4 remaining in the second period as the host Cavs built their advantage.

Rismiller opened the scoring for Coldwater with a free throw at the 6:32 mark to cut the lead to 4-1 and helped teammates Annelise Harlamert and Paige Siefring score markers to put the Cavs into a 5-4 lead they would never relinquish.

Facing double and f0r a handful of instances triple teams from the T-Birds defense, Rismiller utilized her 6’3 height to snag offense rebounds and stick back shots as part of a seven point first quarter and 19 point opening half.

In the first half of play the Cavaliers snared 25 total rebounds as they were able to force their guests to just a single make from beyond the arc on a dozen shots and a 2/24 overall performance from the field.

Leading 31-8 to start the third quarter, Coldwater renewed their advantages in the post behind the duo of freshman Madison Wendel and Rismiller as the duo accounted for 11 of the teams 13 points en route to a 44-21 lead.

Three pointers began to find the bottom of the net for the T-Birds as the sister act of Erin and Mary Kelly Mulcahy laced a pair of triples and a 13 point quarter for the visitors.

Showing that they are a dangerous team from beyond the arc the Thunderbirds once again hit from deep in the fourth period, on three occasions by the Mulcahy’s to trim the Coldwater advantage.

Midway through the final eight minutes Riley Rismiller joined the 30-point in a game club at Coldwater as she added her final basket before heading to the bench for the final moments of the 55-35 victory.

Rismiller’s output is the 21st time a Cavalier player has scored 30 or more in a game and the first since Kourtney Diller’s 31 point performance against Parkway on 1/11/2018.

Mary Kelly Mulcahy, the Findlay golf signee led the T-Birds (5-7) with 17 points on the afternoon. LCC will next be in action on Monday as they welcome Wayne Trace to South Cable Road for a non-conference clash.

Coldwater (3-7) snared 45 rebounds on the day led by 15 from Rismiller and will next welcome St. Henry to the Palace on Thursday evening for a Midwest Athletic Conference matchup.
