FINDLAY – Ottawa Glandorf ran their shutout streak to five games Thursday night as they finished their regular season with a 4-0 victory over host Findlay at Elmer Graham Stadium.
OG kicked off the scoring with 28:04 remaining in the first half as a pass from junior Lily Haselman set up freshman teammate Makenna Siefker who raced a ball past Findlay keeper Zoe McCormick to give the Titans a 1-0 advantage.
Ella Okuley gave the visitors a chance to take a two goal lead with 15:18 left in the opening half following a handball on the Trojans but was unable to connect as McCormick raced to her left and corralled the shot for the save.
Having already handed out a helper in the first half Lily Haselman joined the scoring herself with 25:22 left in the second half by taking a lead pass from Myka Aldrich past McCormick and into the net for her 11th goal of the season and a 2-0 Titan lead.
Ottawa Glandorf upped their advantage once again with 18:25 on the scoreboard as Clara Beach became the fifth Titan to score 10 or more goals on the season and put her squad on top 3-0.
Moments after Beach’s goal the Titans added the final marker of the evening when Brianna Douglas stole a Findlay pass and fired a shot around McCormick into the net to give OG a 4-0 lead they would ride to the final whistle.
Ottawa Glandorf ends their regular season at 15-1 with their first defeat of Findlay since 2016 and will open tournament play on Tuesday as they host Delta for a 5:00 P.M. sectional round opener.
Findlay sees their record drop to 8-8 on the year and will travel north to Sylvania to battle a Southview team they just defeated last week on Wednesday at 5:00 P.M.
“I thought everyone played with really great hustle and energy today. That energy feeds our defensive pressure which I thought was a key to the us winning the game tonight. Offensively, we moved the ball well and four different girls found the back of the net tonight as a result. Proud of the group for playing hard tonight and looking forward to getting ready for the postseason” said first year Titans coach Michelle Maag on her teams performance after the game.
