ST. MARYS – Ottawa Glandorf remains unbeaten in their chase for a Western Buckeye League title after shutting out host St. Marys 5-0 at Roughrider Field on Monday night.
Controlling the pitch for long stretches of time the Titans notched their first goal of the contest with 17:51 to go in the opening half as a cross from junior Alexa Fortman opened a lane for teammate Brianna Douglass to slip behind the Roughrider defense and race a shot past St. Marys keeper Ella Jacobs to give her team a 1-0 lead.
Just over a minute and a half later the visiting blue and gold upped their advantage to 2-0 on a lead from Lily Haselman that found its way through the net from the foot of Clara Beach at 16:12.
While the Titans continued to control the positioning of the ball for most of the first half they were able to add a final first half marker with 6:03 when Fortman snagged a ball near midfield from a defender and through the open field before blasting a ball low and across the goal line past a diving Jacobs to make it 3-0 OG.
Early in the second half Ottawa Glandorf raced ahead to the St. Marys goal line added a second Clara Beach goal of the day to their total when the junior wing took a redirected pass from freshman Makenna Siefker that bounced off of Alexa Fortman in front of the goal and was smashed by Beach into the top corner for a 4-0 lead.
Makenna Siefker added a goal of her own of to finish off the evenings scoring with 7:54 remaining as she slid across the grass in front of the goal keeper and pushed a ball into the net to make it a 5-0 Ottawa Glandorf lead.
St. Marys was largely held in check offensively by the OG high octane defense and were held to just a pair of shots on net at Titan senior keeper Abby Warnecke.
Ottawa Glandorf improves to 7-0 on the season and remains unbeaten in WBL play at 3-0. The Titans will next be in action on Thursday evening as they head to Lima for a conference clash at Bath beginning at 7:00 P.M.
Next up for the banged up Roughriders (3-3, 2-1) is a Tuesday night trip north to Bryan for a non-conference 6:00 P.M. tilt and a league road matchup in Van Wert on Thursday evening.
