Titans roll to senior night win

OTTAWA – Six Ottawa Glandorf seniors logged their final regular season minutes at the Supreme Court on Friday night while helping the Titans to their third straight WBL crown by defeating Kenton 82-46.

Seniors Alex Wagner (11), Grant Schroeder (2), Connor Kitchen (5), Dave Westrick (2), and Caden Erford got the start for Ottawa Glandorf (19-3, 9-0) 42 of their teams 82 markers on the evening led by the sharp shooting Erford who ended the evening with 22.

Ohio State bound Colin White came off of the bench for the blue and gold and recorded 23 points and a trio of highlight reel dunks that brought the near capacity crowd to their feet during a third quarter explosion by the Titans on the scoreboard.

Leading 39-21 at the halftime break the Titans, led by Erford’s three triples knocked down five as a team while tossing in a pair of dunks and a dozen points from White to take a commanding 72-33 advantage into the final eight minutes.

Late in the same stanza, White raced past a trio of Kenton defenders to knock down a shot that would prove to be historical as he became the all-time leading scorer in all of Putnam County history by passing former Ottoville standout Karla Wenzlick’s career total of 1,851. Wenzlick set the mark during her career with the Big Green from 1993-1996 by passing Continental’s Char Smith’s 1,724 points.

Kenton (11-11, 2-7) senior Gavin Payne connected on a pair of three point goals in the first half en route to 12 points on the way to his team high 17 points on the evening.

Ottawa Glandorf saw 10 players record at least one basket in the game with five connecting on at least one shot from beyond the arc while recording their 13th consecutive victory in the series while keeping alive a streak of Kenton having not won in Ottawa since the 1974 season.

Tournament play begins for both teams next Friday night as the Wildcats travel to St. Marys while the Titans host either Van Buren or Elmwood.
