OTTAWA – OG senior Colin White made his college choice known on Sunday afternoon as he revealed he will be attending The Ohio State University.
Speaking with 247Sports Travis Branham the Titan standout remarked that Ohio State stood out to him as a lifelong Buckeye fan through both his fandom and the belief of the coaching staff in his game and as a player.
“I think the style of play really fits me” White continued “Coach Holtman envisions me getting on the floor early and making an impact and really being a ball dominant guard who plays good defense”.
During his junior year White helped lead the Titans to their second straight state finals appearance and an undefeated Western Buckeye League championship.
White averaged 20 points per game last season for Ottawa Glandorf while grabbing nearly six rebounds and handing out four assists per game and being rewarded with a second straight conference Player of the Year award for the 25-4 Titans.
“It means a lot to my parents and my whole family who are here in Ohio and Indiana to be able to come to Columbus and watch me play” remarked White on his choice to stay close to home.
White will take the floor with the Buckeyes and become the third local product to represent the Western Buckeye League in 2024 joining Crestview’s Kalen Etzler and St. Marys Memorial graduate Austin Parks who both played against the Titan senior during their prep career.
Outside of his winter seasons at the Supreme Court the #114th ranked player according to 247sports shot up the recruiting charts with his play over the past few summers as a member of Indiana Elite, a travel team on the Adidas basketball circuit.
Heading into his final campaign in blue and gold White will be looked upon as the driving force to the Titans making their potential fourth consecutive trip to Dayton and delivering the schools fourth state title trophy.
“As a kid from Ohio you dream about being a Buckeye. He spent so many days dreaming about this opportunity and had so many suitors, but at the end of the day OSU was the place he wants to be” said Titan head coach Tyson McGlaughlin on his star forwards choice.
After collecting Ottawa Glandorf’s single game points record of 44 in a win against St. Marys, scoring his 1000th career point and eventually passing his coach on the schools career scoring list the senior to be finds himself within striking distance of heading to Columbus as not only OG but the leading all-time scorer in Putnam County history.
