KANSAS CITY, MO – Ottawa Glandorf has an All-American on their girls soccer roster for the second straight year as senior Myka Aldrich was named to the 2023 team on Tuesday.
The honor, provided by the United Soccer Coaches honors 135 high school players from across the country each year (80 boys, 55 girls) and will recognize the honorees in a banquet in January in Anaheim, California.
“It shows that there is something special to be said about this program and the culture being created here at OG. These awards don’t come without the help of amazing coaches and teammates” said Myka Aldrich on her selection.
Aldrich joins teammate Makenna Siefker (2022) as the only two Titans to have received the honor.
“Myka joins Makenna Siefker on our team as the only two players to have received this honor. Having two players of this caliber on the same team is special” said Maag. “Both girls will admit that having a great team is what allows them to receive these type of awards. It’s an incredible group of people and players, especially Myka, and Makenna”.
During her senior campaign the senior midfielder notched 23 goals while adding nine assists in a season that saw her be named the Western Buckeye League Player of the Year while helping to lead her team to the conference title and a state runner-up finish.
“I am so blessed to receive an honor like this and am beyond grateful for my team and coaches because without them this would not be possible” said Aldrich on the honor.
Aldrich ends her time with the blue and gold with 69 goals and 31 assists and a record of 76-10-5 while also participating in three straight state final appearances at OGHS.
“We are so proud of Myka for being named an All-American” said Ottawa Glandorf head coach Michelle Maag. “She has worked so hard to get to this point and is very deserving of the recognition. Myka has an All-American impact both on and off the field with our team and leave without a doubt a long lasting positive legacy within our program”.
