Douglass, Siefker, Aldrich lead Titans past Cougars

GLANDORF – Ottawa Glandorf junior Makenna Siefker and seniors Bri Douglass and Myka Aldrich accounted for seven goals on Saturday afternoon as the Titans shut out visiting Southview 7-0.

OG opened up the scoring with a pair of goals in a span of just :16 from one another as headers from Aldrich and Douglass raced to the back of the net past Southview keeper Ava Willis.

“We were aggressive when winning balls in the air today and that gave us some early momentum” said Titan coach Michelle Maag on the two quick scores in the first three minutes of the game.

Bri Douglass ended the contest with three assists on the day but notched her second goal of the first half with 30:15 before the break as she snagged a pass and buried a shot with her right foot to the bottom left of the goal to give OG a 3-0 advantage.

Continuing to utilize their pressure from their stingy defense and midfield the Titans again continued to give teammates opportunities in the first half as with 14:05 a give and go just inside the box from Siefker allowed Aldrich to blast through the defense to make it a four goal lead.

Myka Aldrich’s marker was her fourth of the 2023 season and the 50th of her career.

Ottawa Glandorf kicked across their fifth goal of the first half with just 1:08 showing on the scoreboard as a helper from Bri Douglass set up Makenna Siefker for her first goal of the season and fourth point of the half.

Second half goals for the Titans to run their lead to 7-0 where it would end came from Makenna Siefker at 37:45 and the hat trick score with 33:01 to go for Bri Douglass who punched through her 41st career marker with the final tally in the game.

“We moved the ball well today especially in the final third and were creative in the ways we attacked. I thought the girls did a good job of taking advantage of pockets of space on the field” said Maag. “Defensively we took a step forward today, this game and our previous have been tough tests we hope will prepare us for our tough WBL schedule that begins next week”.

Sophomore keeper Karsyn Erford turned away four shots for the Titans while her counterpart Ava Willis stopped 11 for her squad.

Southview (0-3) will next be in action on Wednesday when they host Bowling Green while the Titans (3-0) will host Kenton on Tuesday evening.
