GLANDORF – Perrysburg striker Adelle Francis notched a first half hat trick and four goals overall on Wednesday night as the visiting Yellow Jackets handed Ottawa Glandorf a 5-1 loss.
Francis, named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American team during her junior year alongside OG’s Myka Aldrich utilized her speed to push the guests to the first goal of the game with 30:57 remaining in the opening half.
Working off the teams first corner kick of the evening the Jackets standout upped the advantage to 2-0 with 24:02 by heading in a cross from a teammate past Titan keeper Elliana McCrate by Francis.
Perrysburg continued to add on with 19:28 showing on the stadium scoreboard off of another corner kick opportunity that would give the All-Ohio selection Francis her third goal of the night and sixth of the year.
“#3 (Francis) outplayed us especially on those corners. Blazing speed and unseen vertical at the high school level, she is all she’s made out to be, a D1 college talent for a reason” said OG coach Michelle Maag on Francis after the contest.
Playing their first home game of the season in front of a capacity crowd on a muggy evening the Titans came out strong in the opening minutes of the second half with a Lily Haselman pass ahead to Makenna Siefker for a marker that cut the blue and gold deficit to 3-1 with 35:47 to go.
Unfortunately for the hosts their happiness would last for just moments as Adelle Francis struck for the fourth and final time at 23:32 to give the Jackets back a three goal lead at 4-1.
The games final goal came with 10:12 before the horn when a third corner kick opportunity provided a score, a header by Maci Maxwell that raced past McCrate to push the lead to 5-1.
“We wanted to be tested with tough competition before the always tough league play and we got what we asked for with this Perrysburg team” opined Maag on the non-conference affair with their Division 1 opponent.
Perrysburg (2-0-1) is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Rocky River for a tilt with Magnificat while the Titans (1-1-1) are off until next Tuesday evening when they kick off Western Buckeye League play at 7pm hosting rival Wapakoneta.
