Musketeers hoping for big things in 2021

FT. JENNINGS – Sixth year head coach Rob Warnecke returns 13 letter winners from 2020 and will hope that the hard work and positive attitude displayed by his troops translates into wins in 2021.

Last season the Musketeer ladies finished the regular season 1-14 and were defeated in the opening round of the OHSAA postseason tournament by league mate Kalida 3-0.

Though the team opened the season with 11 straight losses they were able to stop the skid with a 5-0 victory at Van Wert on October 8th before finishing the regular campaign with setbacks to the high powered attacks of St. Marys and Ottoville.

“We have a talented group of hard working athletes that are motivated to improve our game. Communication and field awareness will be key areas of focus on our journey to a successful season as we look to be competitive in the Putnam County League this year and look forward to our league matches” says Warnecke on his teams outlook this year.

Returning for the Musketeers are seniors Abigail Koester, and Ellie Lindeman, a pair of three year letter winners and classmate Haven Knippen who has garnered one letter herself.

Six juniors who have each won two letters make up a majority of the returners led by Tayla Finn, and Taylor Liebrecht as well as Elizabeth Meyer, Madison Tumlinson, Rachel Von Sossan, Gloria Webken, and one-time letter winner Reagan Ricker.

Sophomores who have letters to their name and are returning are Elizabeth Fruend, Hannah Grote, and Alexandra Maag.

In addition to the returners, this seasons Musketeers will be joined by 11 prospects from the sophomore and freshmen classes that features seven first year additions to the program.

Fort Jennings kicks off the season on August 24th when they play host to Coldwater at 6:00 P.M. as the first of a four game homestand that features games against Delphos St. Johns, Van Buren, and Allen East before the team hits the road for the first time to take on Lima Central Catholic.
