Musketeers seek continued improvement in 21-22

FORT JENNINGS – Coming off of the best year since 2018 the 2021-2022 Fort Jennings Musketeers will look to continue their improvement on last seasons 7-15 campaign.

Head coach Todd Hoehn now in his second season at the helm of the orange and black will look to find replacements for the losses of four letter winners and multiple year starters in 2nd team PCL selection Evan Hoersten, Zach Schulte, Jared Liebrecht, and Cody Horstman.

“We will strive to compete with all our opponents, and our schedule is filled with very good teams and coaches so it will be a challenge every night. We will always try to get better” said Hoehn who also doubles as the schools athletic director and head golf coach.

Returning letter winners Nick Trentman and Jon Grote will lead a young Musketeer squad that finished at 1-6 last season in Putnam County League contests.

Prospects tagged by Hoehn to make a possible early impact are Aidan Grothouse, Chase Neidert, and Nick Wurst in addition to several sophomore and freshman players who will begin the season competing for varsity playing time for a squad that features 15 players expected to be both deep and hungry to make their mark.

Fort Jennings will open their season with a pair of road games on Friday, November 26th and 27th as they travel to Arlington and Ada before coming home for the only time in their opening five contests to take on Ridgemont on Friday, December 3rd before trips to Spencerville and Ottoville.

Freshmen Brandt Menke, Jarron Swick, and Ian Howbert will join sophomores Carson Gilchriest, Brayden Hart, and Ethan Koester as newcomers on the squad this year. Juniors Brayden Calvelage, Jaret Maag, and Chase Neidert join a six player senior class of Aidan Grothouse, Will Lucas, Nick Trentman, Gavin Gilbert, Jon Grote, and Nick Wurst for Hoehn this season representing the orange and black.
