GLANDORF – Ottawa Glandorf kept their Western Buckeye League loss column unblemished on Monday evening as they dispatched visiting Van Wert 14-0 for their 18th straight conference victory.
Thirteen different scorers found the back of the net for the Titans on Tuesday with one accounting for her first career goal.
“It was a good team win tonight against a hard working Van Wert side. 13 different scorers tonight is a pretty cool feat. Kylee Lehman got her first varsity goal tonight after being such a hard worker in practice for us this season” said OG coach Michelle Maag.
OG, ranked #2 in Division 3 according to the newest OSSCA polls released on Monday wasted no time opening up the scoring as a Myka Aldrich rocket just :43 put the blue and gold on top 1-0.
Sophomore Liv Grothause connected on a penalty kick in the bottom right corner to give the Titans a 2-0 advantage moments later for her second goal of the season that continued a five minute span which saw her squad strike five times.
Goals from Bri Douglass, Delaney Duling, and the first career marker from senior Kylee Lehman ensured the Titans would not fall victim to the visiting Cougars for the first time in 14 all-time meetings.
Facing heavy pressure from the host onslaught, Van Wert keeper Lilly Mason turned away a handful of potential goals to keep the result from getting out of hand early.
Working from a corner kick the defending league champions ran their lead to 6-0 with 33:47 when a Duling cross found a waiting teammate in Mackenzie Recker and ultimately the back of the net. Recker’s night was not finished as she became the only Titan to score two on the night just over 11 minutes later at 22:33 to run the deficit to 8-0 thanks to a Maya Heringhaus goal sandwiched in between her two markers.
Goals from seniors Lauren Siefker, Madelyn Hovest, as well the duo of Carlie Brinkman and Savannah Recker capped off the first half run for the Titans as they finished up :39 before the break with a 12-0 lead on the scoreboard.
Makenna Siefker tied for the team lead less than :20 into the second half with Aldrich thanks to her 15th of the season at 39:46 before teammate Emma Heringhaus ended the evenings scoring at 17:45 for OG.
“We were able to play some younger girls in extended minutes tonight. I was happy with how both the starters and subs kept a high level of play throughout the game. We’ve got another big WBL matchup on Thursday night with Celina coming to town. We’ve hit the back stretch of the season and are still working hard to get better each day” finished Maag on her thoughts on the victory.
Van Wert (0-10, 0-6) is next in action on Thursday night as they play host to Shawnee with a 5pm kick while the Titans (12-0, 6-0) host welcome the aforementioned Bulldogs to the Titan Soccer Complex for a 7pm tilt.
