KALIDA – Ottawa Glandorf peppered the Kalida defense with shots all through their non-league contest on Saturday morning and emerged victorious 7-0.
Alexa Fortman started the scoring for the visitors with 35:09 remaining in the opening half of play as she redirected a misplayed attempt at a clear by a Kalida defender with her right foot past Wildcat keeper Kassidy Hipsher for a 1-0 Titan lead.
OG freshman Myka Aldrich netted her seventh goal of the season with 20:48 before the half as she headed in a ball that was initially stopped by Hipsher that bounced off the keepers hands and into the goal for a 2-0 advantage.
Despite Hipsher making a host of highlight reel type saves in the first half the barrage kept coming from the OG shooters who spent most of the first half inside the Kalida box. Lilly Haselman put the visitors on top 3-0 with 18:12 as she struck from deep outside the box and into the bottom left of the net for her ninth marker of the season.
Ottawa Glandorf’s final marker of the first half came from their leading scorer the past two seasons Kelsey Erford who blasted a shot with her right foot into the top corner of the goal to give her team a 4-0 lead they would carry into the halftime break.
In the first thirty minutes of the second half the Titans continued to pepper their hosts with shot after shot but were unable to work anything past Hipsher even despite a total of 13 corner kick opportunities as well.
Brianna Douglas changed the momentum in a scoreless second half for OG as she sent a strike into the top left from outside the box with 11:04 to go and make it a 5-0 lead on the scoreboard.
With Kalida unable to clear the ball past midfield on goal kicks or kicks from their goal keeper due to a tough swirling wind in their face, the Titans took advantage in the last eight plus minutes thanks to a pair of Myka Aldrich scores.
Aldrich’s first marker came with 8:20 left as she sent a strike into the box with her left foot, while her third goal of the contest completed the hat trick with 4:30 remaining on another rope that found the back of the net for a 7-0 lead for OG.
Kalida faced 26 shots on the night and despite double digit saves from their freshman keeper Hipsher were unable to keep up with the fast paced Titan attack as they found themselves shorthanded, missing several starters for the contest.
Next up for the Wildcats (6-7-1) is a Tuesday Putnam County League matchup at Continental.
Ottawa Glandorf (9-3-3) is back in action on Tuesday night as they travel to Ryan Field in Wapakoneta for a WBL matchup with the host Redskins.
