Titans stay unblemished, move to 4-0 in WBL

GLANDORF – Ottawa Glandorf stayed on top of the Western Buckeye League standings Thursday evening as they dispatched visiting Bath 3-0 on Build a Burger Night.

Working off of their first corner kick of the night the Titans earned the first marker of the game with 35:33 remaining in the opening half when a high cross was rushed and bodied into the net by senior Clara Beach for her sixth score of the season and a 1-0 Ottawa Glandorf advantage.

OG’s second and only other score of the first half came with 22:49 remaining thanks to Bri Douglass, a junior forward who utilized her left foot to loft a shot to the high right side and past Bath keeper Kyla Bailey to make it a 2-0 lead for the hosts.

Though both teams controlled the pace of play and the opponent passing lanes at times, the Titans found themselves in control once again in the final 20 minutes of the contest as a back line jaunt by Douglass set up Lily Haselman’s second marker of the year with 16:27 showing on the clock to provide the final score in a 3-0 victory.

The Titans tallied eight shots on the night while the Wildcats were held to just two. Goal keepers Bailey (Bath) and Emma Brinkman (OG) turned away four and two shots respectively.

Ottawa Glandorf improves to 4-0 in the Western Buckeye League and 7-1-1 overall while Bath falls to 3-3 and 2-2 on the season.

With their win tonight the Titans have now defeated the Wildcats in back to back meetings for the first time since achieving three straight victories in the series from 2007 to 2009.

“WBL games are always tough and it’s important we find different ways to win them. Three girls found the back of the net tonight in three different ways. Credit to our girls for doing enough to find a way to win tonight, there’s a lot we can learn from a game like tonight. Luckily we have a short turn around with another game on Saturday to see how quickly we can improve on what we saw tonight” stated Titan boss Michelle Maag after the game.

Bath is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Anna to take on the Rockets while the Titans host Archbold in a non-league tilt set for 1pm that can be heard live on WZOQ Radio
