Four area teams top state polls

Ottawa Glandorf, Fort Loramie, Marion Local, and Versailles sit at the top of their respective sports polls released on Monday.

Ottawa Glandorf grabs the top spot in girls soccer in Division 3 for the first time in program history. Sitting at 13-0 on the season and on the strength of a 27 match unbeaten streak (26-0-1) the Titans will seek their 20th straight Western Buckeye League victory on Tuesday night when they travel to Lima to take on Shawnee.

Liberty Benton snagged the #8 slot in Division 2 as the only other area girls soccer program ranked in this weeks OSSCA polls.

Ottoville who vanquished Lima Central Catholic on Monday night 13-1 took the third spot in Division 3 on the boys side, the highest ranking in program history. Joining the Big Green in the rankings in Division 2 were WBL tri-leaders Celina (11th), Shawnee (16th), and St. Marys (18th).

High school volleyball in the area was again well represented this week with Shawnee tabbed fifth in Division 2 with one first place vote. Joining the Indians were the Liberty Benton Eagles in 14th place.

Division 3 features a quartet of Midwest Athletic Conference schools led by second ranked Coldwater (two first place votes), St. Henry in 3rd (one first place vote), Fort Recovery (8th), and Versailles (15th).

Fort Loramie received 22 of 41 first place votes as the top team in Division 4 just in front of New Bremen (six first place votes). Joining the Redskins and Cardinals were Crestview (4th, four first place votes), Leipsic (8th), Marion Local (9th), Jackson Center (10th), Russia (13th), and Minster (20th).

Division 3 football saw the WBL leading Celina Bulldogs ranked just outside the top 10 in 11th place as the only area representative.

Coldwater paced area vote getters in Division 5 with a second place ranking and three first place votes just in front of unbeaten Liberty Center who also received three top votes in the third spot.

Versailles will spend another week in the top slot in Division 6 and are followed by sixth place Bluffton, the leaders in the Northwest Conference heading into week eight.

Defending state champion Marion Local again sits at number one in Division 7 with an unblemished season and a nearly 40-game win streak on their resume. Hopewell-Loudon and Patrick Henry took the third and fifth spots respectively while Antwerp and Minster rounded out the top 10 in sixth and 10th. McComb and Pandora Gilboa represented the Blanchard Valley Conference strong with 11th and 15 place rankings to their credit.
